The door are wide open for free beers and packets of crisps, shared generously from the stage to the delighted audience members who gladly accepted the free gifts that were being handed to them!

The Choir of Man is a unique theatrical experience where everyone is invited to participate in a social gathering at the Jungle Public House. All are welcome and invited to walk through the doors and come just as they are. Here we are told is a place of acceptance where all can belong and be a part of the community there.

This infectious invitation spills out to the packed theatre audience, who are invited to join the actors on stage before the show, during the interval and, for some grabbed out of the audience, during the show.

We are treated to storytelling from the individual characters and many wonderful, rousing well known songs to lift our mood.

A beautiful addition to the evening was the surprise flashmob performance from two local large choirs who joined in singing the song ‘Chandelier’ with the cast as they stood from where they were in the audience. Participation with a capitol P! 

I had forgotten that this show like so many other unique theatrical experiences including Six and Eric and Little Ern, had started life at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Wonderful that it has now been shared across the world because someone potted its potential to spread some joy!

Congratulations to the Creators Andrew Kay and Nic Doodson alongside Ben Norris – Monologue Writer - Jack Blume – Vocal arranger and orchestrator and Freddie Huddleston – Movement director and choreographer, and the entire cast and crew who have done a fabulous job in bringing this to the stage.

Indeed, this is an extremely thought provoking poignant in places, honest and uplifting show that takes us all on a journey to better place. With all the craziness going on in the world, this show going experience was a much-needed reminder that there is a lot of good in our shared humanity when we gather, listen to each other and have a good old-fashioned singalong!
